1. Magic Wand

By using the magic wand tool, I have managed to edit out the back ground, and I think that the picture actually looks quite good like this, although it wouldn't be appropriate for the contents page.

 

2. Further Gradient Experiment

By experimenting further with the gradient tool on Pixlr I have managed to create a better image than the first with experimenting with gradient. By selecting the shading that you want to change with using the Magic Wand and then changing the back ground with the Gradient tool, which gives this effect.
